Check out this old clip from back when I was in The Crocodiles in NZ. Its from 1981 and it was the last song we released before we went to make our fortunes in Australia! I am so glad I have enough self esteem to post this, I mean could you FIND worse acting anywhere??? (Apart from Dave Dobbyn who plays the ‘mother’).
I am about to do a string of dates with 2 of the finest singers I know of.
Rick Price, Peter Cupples and I will be performing some of our hits, plus a mixture of other people’s songs.
All very soulful and classy.
Songs as diverse as Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For, Come Together, Big Yellow Taxi, It’s Only Natural, to name a few.
Check out our new poster and check the gigs page for dates.
I recently heard Ayaan Hirsi Ali speak. If you are interested in thought-provoking, insightful intelligent and quite controversial ideas, seek her out. She is an amazing survivor.
Her books are INFIDEL and NOMAD. Her life story sounds like a far-fetched movie script but she herself is very grounded.
If you want to be exposed to progressive and thought-provoking ideas . . .
The Saturday night fund raiser for Nordoff Robbins music therapy was a huge success. (Art Of Music: artofmusic.com.au)
The star-studded event netted $215,000 for the children.
Peter Garret very kindly came to support the cause along with Sheila E who is my idol and also a very cool, hot, sweet woman. (Went to her drum clinic a few days later, which reaffirmed to me her status as one of the best percussion players ever! Its no wonder she’s Prince’s partner in funk.)

Heres a link to some images from the Late Night Lounge gig at the Opera House.
Check out this post from my old friend Stephen Stratford with photos and some little-known historical facts!
Late Night Lounge at the Sydney Opera House was the first one of a series and the whole concept is very cool. A mixture of acts including (on this first night) amazing Ari the aerialist, cabaret artist Meow Meow, excellent drag queen Amelia Airhead, popsters Frisky and Mannish, if you’re into Hula Hoopin’ Kira Carden, chick singer (that would be me) and bloke singer (that would be Tex Perkins).
Just looking through my calender for the next few weeks. I relate it to patting my head and rubbing my stomach.
How does a woman keep up!!! I know how, I have the coolest job. I get to play music to music lovers, I get to associate with great and talented people. On Australia Day this was in the form of Kasey Chambers and Bec Cole at our gig in Terrigal. HOT, but awesome.
Also, I get to travel. Last year to Hong Kong, NZ (twice) and the Middle East and in March of course, I’m back to NZ for the NZ Arts Festival.
So when I’m moaning about how busy I am, I just need to read back over this.
Note to self ….. Stop Whining…. (said with Austrian (no, not AustRALIAN) accent).
C’est tout. Jx
Happy New Year, and I mean it! I think if the people around us are happy, it’s catching …
… so I’m going to think about other people’s happiness a bit more this year. That means my family and friends, co-creators, colleagues, community – small and large. I’m going to rein in my selfishness (apart from Lindt Balls and nice underwear) and think about what’s going on outside my head instead. JM
